Rose Quartz Facials

So after going on my Quartz Spa Training with Crystal Clear I have been researching into crystals, paying particular attention to Rose Quartz. In all our Quartz Spa treatment rituals it involves massage with rose quartz palm stones.

With facials and skin being my ultimate passion, i decided to look at rose quartz facial rollers that I could use in facials more freely than the palm stones. On researching the facial rollers I found that they were quite popular and I came across many reviews and blogs about them.

After researching the many benefits of the facial rollers I decided to incorporate the facial rollers into our NEW Rose Quartz Facial. This will include all the fabulous Crystal Clear Skincare, Quartz Spa products aswell rose quartz palm stones and the facial roller.

Before we go into detail about the Facial let’s just talk about the history & benefits of Rose Quartz Crystal.

There are a number of legends surrounding rose quartz and its power of love and reconciliation, but I’d like to pay particular attention to a Egyptian legend and goddess Isis. Isis used rose quartz to maintain her divine youth and beauty and it is said that the goddess would gather rose quartz crystals by the Nile River and use them to keep her skin clear & wrinkle free. It has also been reported that facial masks made of rose quartz have been found in tombs of ancient Egypt.

On a spiritual level rose quartz is a love stone. Is is famous for attracting and keeping love, not just from others, but for oneself by oneself. Commonly known for their powerful vibrations to heal the heart from sentiments of lost love, anger, resentment and jealousy.

Also believed to lower stress, raise self-esteem, restore confidence and balance emotions

  • Packed with minerals magnesium, iron and oxygen that help reduce inflammation and support renewal of skin cells.
  • Tones facial muscles
  • Stimulates detoxification
  • Aid absorption of skincare
  • Reduction of undereye puffiness and dark circles
  • Improve appearance of clearer skin

How to use

There are two different ways to use the rollers to either:

1.  Give a detoxifying affect- gently rolling towards the ears to help drain the lymph nodes

2. Give a Rejuvenating affect – by applying a medium to firm pressure with the roller moving in an upwards direction.

Rose quartz facial

In our NEW Rose Quartz Facial our main focus is on wellbeing and relaxation. We start the treatment with a lifestyle questionnaire then move onto the sensory part (which I love as this bit is so individual to each person) client smells the three blends of quartz spa oils-

Happiness – pure zesty sunshine, a truly beautiful uplifting happy aromatherapy blend containing Sweet Orange, Grapefruit and sandalwood.

Energise- free the mind & body whilst rebalancing the emotions with this detoxifying aromatherapy blend. It utilises the powerful cleansing, theraputic properties of juniper, grapefruit and lemon, combining them with balancing clary sage and bay laurel.

Hope- a bewitching, sensual and luxurious aromatherapy blend that merges clarifying spearmint with vanilla. Add in sweet orange, balancing geranium, crisp sharp and citrus lime and the endless benefits of petitgrain.

After smelling all the three blends the client chooses their favourite, we then go onto use that blend throughout the treatment including spraying the room with that fragrance. Before treatment commences a gem elixir is consumed then we start the facial by deep cleansing then exfoliating. Whilst the mask is on the face we preform a 10 minute crystal cleanse. After this we then preform the massage (with the chosen aromatherapy blend) of the shoulders and face with the rose quartz palm stones and facial roller. We then moisturise & finish the treatment with a spritz of the chosen aromatherapy blend on the skin.

A full glass of the gem elixir is then consumed and we then talk through any skincare and lifestyle recommendations.

Quartz Spa Training and Products

Freedom is my first thought as I board the train to Liverpool, then as I sit down and start the journey my eyes start to close (oh the joys of sleepless nights) The quietness also helps me on my way to nodding off but I manage to keep my eyes open and start focusing on the day ahead.

After a short walk or taxi drive, (I decide on the latter), I arrive at Crystal Clear Headquarters on Rodney Street. On arrival I am greeted by Cath and she tells me that we have one to one training for the day.

The morning is spent chatting through the Quartz Spa Treatments and Products. This includes smelling the products and having a feel of them.

There are three signature Quartz Spa blends – Hope, Happiness and Energise. So I learn about each blend and who they are best suited too.

Each blend represents what crystal clear feel to be the core principles of physical vitality and emotional equilibrium and each one has been meticulously created to exude aromatically and sensually, the very essence that it name projects.

How Quartz Spa came about and the concept behind it-

Inspired by nature to help soothe and recharge, quartz Spa takes the purest ingredients and most powerful crystals to create effective and indulgent therapies for the mind, body and soul.

Developed by Sharon Hilditch alongside one of the most prestigious spa consultants in the world, Linda Hall. Quartz Spa harnesses the power of nature’s two most potent healing gifts, essential oils and crystals.

Each product in the range is infused with a pure quartz crystal that amplifies the healing properties of natural ingredients and therapeutic aromatherapy blends used. Stimulating positive energy circulation, lifting your mood and calming your senses.

Why Quartz?

Quartz is the ‘feel better stone’ on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It is one of nature’s most beautiful and potent tools. It is one of the most energetic stones on the planet, amplifying and releasing energy.

Also known as the Master Healer, quartz channels energy and it can be directed to help emotional well-being. Either stimulating and leaving you feeling happier, calmer, harmonising emotions, healing and rebalancing.

Aromatherapy Treatment Rituals

The therapies have been designed as rituals that take in consideration the mind, body and spirit – rebalancing and restoring from both inside and out.

The unique quartz Spa blends enable therapists to deliver a bespoke treatment ritual tailored to suit each client’s individual needs. The choice of blend is selected in response to the detailed consultation, lifestyle questionnaire and your personally desired treatment ritual goals.

Heres the treatments that will be on offer at the salon.

Aromatherapy full body massage ritual £50

Aromatherapy back ritual £35

Realign and rebalance back ritual – incudes scrub, massage and wrap. £45

Face, neck and shoulder ritual £35

Blooming beautiful mum to be £50

All treatment rituals include a gem elixir drink before and after the treatment (this is so that you take the energy from the quartz stones that are infused in the water), massaging with rose quartz stones (a crystal of compassion and peace) and your very own quartz crystal (master Healer, the feel better stone) to take away with you to continue on your energising journey way after your treatment.

As an introductory offer throughout September receive 20% off our treatment rituals by quoting #quartzcrystals

I hope you enjoy these products and treatment rituals as much as I do. If you’ve already bought some of the quartz Spa products please leave us a comment on how you got on with the products.

Treatment Spotlight on Indian Head Massage

This ancient therapy dates back thousands of years and once formed a vital part of Indian family life, with regular massages given to infants from birth.

From an early age, Indian children were taught the art of head massage so that each family member could both give and receive the treatment, thereby creating strong family bonds.

Indian Head massage also incorporates the principles of ayurveda. Ayurveda translates as ‘the science of life’. According to ayurveda, health is when there is harmony and balance of the mind, body and self and who doesn’t want that, right??

Disease is caused by a disruption of the equilibrium within either ourselves or our environment.

Many of us suffer with everyday stresses in life in general, so this would be a principle that would refer to a lot of people.

Benefits of receiving Indian Head massage-

The treatment is 30 minutes long and is received from the therapist whilst you sit on a chair. With this in mind it makes it a treatment that is highly accessible to a lot of people.

It brings about a localised stimulation of the blood flow, lymph flow and nerve endings. Which leads to feelings of calmness and invigoration.

The treatment will help those who suffer for general localised aches and pains, headaches and migraines, muscular tension and fatigue, stress tension and depression and eye strain.

The treatment can also be carried out with or without essential oils.

We charge £22 for Indian Head massage and once people have tried it they always come back again.

We hope you enjoyed our treatment Spotlight this month. We will be doing this once a month and would love your feedback.

We hope to see you the clinic soon but In the meantime Be Pretty, Be Pampered and be beautiful.

What Causes Wrinkles?

Damage occurs to collagen and elastin fibres deep down in the skin called the reticular dermis. Expression lines are caused by gradual denting of the collagen fibres from repeated facial movement. Just like a piece of metal that is bent multiple times, these fibres become weaker in the area of constant bend. In a Sun damaged skin little by little the collagen and elastin fibres are damaged until they cannot function in their intended capacity. This damage results in both skin wrinkling and skin sagging.

There are two main types of skin wrinkling: those caused by facial expressions – called Expression Lines. These include horizontal lines “scowl” lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet at the outside corners of the eyes and from the corners of the mouth to the nose. Lines caused by Sun Exposure – these wrinkles are not necessarily in the areas of facial movement; they are often criss-cross wrinkles and can be in any area of the face, neck or chest.

There are two main types of ageing on the Skin:

Intrinsic Skin Ageing refers to the ageing of the skin that occurs naturally. Hereditary factors, ethnicity, skin coloration, gravity’s effect on the skin over time. chronological age (the passing of the years).

Extrinsic Skin Ageing is exposure and environmental factors that affect skin ageing. What happens to the skin over a lifetime is extrinsic skin ageing. Sun exposure, smoking, exposure to pollutants, and health habits that affect the skin are all factors in extrinsic aging. Extrinsic factors affecting the skin are generally controllable and avoidable, which makes the extrinsic signs preventable!!!!

Skin that is damaged from extrinsic factors will appear much older than the skin of the same age that only has intrinsic ageing factors. Remember this ladies look after your skin and it will repay you!!

Sun Damage

The medical term for skin damage from sun exposure is Dermatoheliosis. One of the main and first appearing signs of this is splotchy discoloration of the skin. This is caused by the skin trying to defend itself against sun exposure.

A tan is actually an immune function of the skin, desperately trying to shield itself from the sun’s damaging rays! What appears as a golden tan in your 20’s will appear as wrinkles, pigment splotchiness at age 40.

Why we should wear an SPF Daily?

As well as to protect from Sun Damage we need protection from Free radicals. These are unstable atoms that rob electrons from the cells of the skin, that can cause damage to DNA in cells and the fibroblasts that produce COLLAGEN so therefore ages the skin.

Skin Tips and Advice on Sun Damage

  • Use a broad spectrum daily sunscreen, which means that it screens both UVA and UVB rays.
  • The sunscreen should be an SPF of at least 15
  • The last factor is very important. Most importantly: you must find a sunscreen product that you really like and can comfortably use every day, and that can double up as a moisturiser. It is important that it is easily workable into your skin care regime. Wearing a moisturiser with built in sunscreen is an easy health habit that can make a world of difference to any skin.

Oxygen Facials – Clients Course Reviews

Amanda had a course of 5 Oxygen Treatments over November & December 2016, she had one session a week for 5 weeks. She came to us initially as she felt her skin was dull and needed brightening, this is Amanda’s treatment review.

I have been amazed at the results after each treatment, my skin is much brighter and firmer and there was no need for foundation.

Even though I am not the best at keeping my skin hydrated from within the results have been excellent with my skin now feeling smoother and softer.

The results are instant and last well.

Amanda Martin

Tricia came to the clinic as she felt that he skin had become dull and lifeless over the winter period. Tricia had a course of 5 treatments over January and February 2017, this is Tricia’s treatment review.

My Skin feels “New”, my whole face and neck looks plumper, firmer, brighter and feels silky. The area around the eyes instead of looking sunken and dark are now fuller and lighter. Lines have reduced.

I feel and look great.

Treat yourself, it’s worth it!

Open for 10 Years, Where has the time Gone??

I first started the business in 2006 at the age of 21 after leaving my current beauty therapist job at a salon in Nantwich. I had no experience in running my own business and after just passing my driving test I did think about doing treatments in peoples houses, but my mum and dad had a little annexe on the side of the house which I thought I would try and start working from. Whilst debating on which direction to lead the business in a part time therapist job come up at Alvaston Hall Hotel so I went for an interview and got the job. I ran this job alongside my start up business for just under a year and then decided to go full time working at my then home (parents home).

How I came up with the business name

I was chatting with my family about what I wanted the business to be called & bouncing a few names around when my sister came up with Pretty & Pampered. This I thought was perfect as I was trying to imagine how I would want customers to feel after they had had their treatment and left the salon. Now I have been open 10 years i have changed the business name slightly to Pretty and Pampered Skin & Beauty Clinic, this was due to a refurbishment and taking on NEW skin treatments in the salon.

How we where back in 2006

Well I was a lot younger to start with but just to give you an indicator on my price range from way back then – a file & polish on fingers or toes was just £5 and an eyebrow wax was £4.50. My then skin care brand was Dermalogica for facials and OPI for nails. And would you believe it there was no Gel Polish (shellac) back then (how did we survive without it). At first my main treatments that I carried out were massages and facials and when the recession hit back in 2010 my main focus switched to nails. This was also when the Gel Polish hit the market so I went on my shellac training in early 2011 and then my business became very very busy with shellac.

Break from the business between 2011 & 2012

Many of my long standing customers will know that I have had a break in the business when my niece was diagnosed with Leukaemia and to work in another salon part time in Sandbach – Angel Beauty Boutique, i learnt a lot from this lady, thank you Katie Bell you were fabulous. These breaks in the business allowed me to take a step back and re-evaluate the business and where I wanted to be headed with it.

Present Day – Exciting things ahead…..

After recently having some time off in March 2016 after having my daughter  and returning to work in September I wanted a fresh look for the salon, so we had a refurbishment and changed a couple of things that I felt were important to me after returning to work after 6 months off. My Skin & Beauty Clinic is now Baby Friendly which means customers can bring their little ones along to their appointment. I have also added a NEW & exciting Treatment to the Clinics price list-Oxygen Facials and I hope to add many more NEW treatments this year and next.

Changes Ahead

Whilst I enjoy making peoples nails pretty my passion is Skin Health and Massage, so my aim in 2017 is to concentrate on making people’s skin perfect and ironing out everybody’s kinks in their muscles.  I will also hopefully be introducing another Nail Specialist to take over nails by Springtime this year.

In the mean time I look forward to seeing NEW and OLD customers in the salon whether you have a baby in tow or not.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog I hope you enjoyed it, please feel free to comment.

Be Pampered, Be Pretty and Be Beautiful.
